Water at dawn without getting up
A hose timer screws onto the outdoor tap, and the hose screws onto the timer. Turn the knob through each setting to enter the current time, the start time, how long to water and how often, and the timer opens and closes the valve on its own.
Rain delay pauses the program for 24, 48 or 72 hours after a storm and then picks the schedule back up. The water volume version measures what flows through it and can stop after a set amount instead of a set time. The two-zone timer has two outlets, so the lawn and the vegetable bed can run on separate schedules from one tap.
The EPA WaterSense program suggests watering early in the morning or after the sun goes down, since a large share of midday water is lost to evaporation. A timer set for 6 a.m. does that without you. the TiFFCOFiO line makes the hose timers in blue, and the one-outlet timer also comes in gray.
